The funny thing about this room, it it was all inspired by these Jellycat plush Octopus stuffed animals. They’re so soft and soo cute with their tentacles and smiles. I’d seen them around for a while, and knew I wanted to incorporate them into the happy nautical design of the room. They were immediately purchased and the designing began.
As I showed in the last installment of the One Room Challenge, the concepts came pretty quickly after we knew we wanted the Octopus buddies. The “happy nautical” theme was set and the big items were the first to be selected.
We decided the room was going to be simple and fill it as time went on. But first, I decided on the “big” items in the room.
This wallpaper, because who doesn’t love a fun wall print.
This daybed from Serena & Lily.
These darling baskets, also from Serena & Lily, for stuffed animal storage.
This fun rug. (It’s indoor/ outdoor… because…kids).
From there, we had our inspo and concepts. It was just time to order and put it all together! For the small but mighty touches, we sourced the below items!
A unique floor lamp for the corner in order to read before bed.
Fun pillows to tie the room together. (Mae Woven Concepts)
We opted to swap out the circular mirror with a square mirror instead because we liked that better with the floating shelves. It gives such a pretty reflection of the wallpaper on the opposite wall.
These floating shelves are really durable and chic. They make for great book shleves (the clients kept all their childrens books for their grandchildren). But for now, we’ll style them up!
I used this throw, which I actually own and it’s the softest, coziest throw I’ve ever had and SUCH A GOOD PRICE. It comes in a few colors and I highly recommend grabbing one!
a vintage Sailing flag that is too cute framed in the center of the room.
The prints from Pencil & Paper Co. to style the shelves with and bring more colors in.
Thanks for following along. The whole room coming soon!
