A citrus infused Holiday Cake

This was the year that I pushed myself to cook and bake more and take on more challenging recipes.

After baking an earl grey cake with a fig buttercream frosting for Thanksgiving, I knew I wanted to add some citrus to my Christmas cake. I found this recipe that I made some changes to and added some simple holiday decorating.

I wasn’t sure I had a handle on buttercream frosting and I wasn’t so sure it would turn out ok. But with ma favorite additions and slight changes to the recipe, it turned out even better than I could have imagined. I love the subtle citrus tase… and the frosting was some of the best I’ve ever had!
